The main reason why the numbers about the employment and unemployment are not corresponding with each other is the migration. The US is the most attractive country in the world for migrating into, thus there's millions of people each year that apply for work and permanent stay in the US. The influx of people from all around the world constantly increases the population of the country, and the people that come in are mostly in their 20's and 30's, thus at working age. The majority of these people manage to get a job very easily, especially because they are willing to work for less money than the US citizens. This leads to a situation where the employment is constantly on the rise, but the unemployment is decreasing at a much slower rate.
