4 examples of content that often inspires artists are as follows:
1)
Places of natural beauty - this example of inspirational content can
most often be seen in the work of naturalist painters, and the
impressionists. Large bodies of water such as seas and rivers are
particularly favoured.
2) Significant others - the significant
others of artists has featured prominently in art, both in classic art
and more modern works. To see how these people who profoundly effected
the lives of others are recreated as a muse is incredibly interesting.
3) Current events - Artists often aim to reflect political events or
things that are happening right now in the world, so as to add their own
voice and perspective into the conversation.
4) Self portraits -
It's always intriguing to see how any individual views themselves,
especially when their artistic talent allows us to see not only their
view of themselves, but to reconsider how we view ourselves.
Of
these four examples of subject matter, I am personally most drawn to
art that features events that were/are current. I believe that for art
to evolve and transform it is important to prevent styles and ideas from
becoming stagnant, and the only way to do this is for art to reflect
the changing world around us.
