Some key features of Articles of Confederation are-
- On paper, this Congress had the authority to supervise postal service, military operations, and foreign policy.
- It also had the authority to select military leaders, manage Indian affairs, borrow the money, set coin values, and issue bill of credit.
- However, in practice, the Articles provided the Congress no authority to compel the states to send money or troops as requested, and by end of 1786, the government's efficiency had collapsed.
- The Articles prepared the way again for 1787 Constitutional Convention and the current structure of American government by outlining its own shortcomings.
