Stanley Hall's child study movement was the first organized effort which was launched in late 19th century to apply scientific methods to the study of children. It focused child welfare and compulsory education.

John Dewy Theory argued that education can only truly be effective when children have learning opportunities that enable them to link current knowledge to prior experience and knowledge. He means that students must adapt to their environment in order to learn.
