Sometimes this orderly process is disturbed and abnormal or damaged cells multiply and multiply when they should not. These cells can form tumors, which are collections of tissues. Tumors can be cancerous or noncancerous (benign).
Cancer grows into vital organs, nerves, or blood vessels, destroying and impairing their function, and killing them. You can start with almost any human cell. New cells are usually formed by growth and division. When cells become too old or damaged, they die and are replaced by newly formed cells.
