Q1.An electrician is replacing an old electric shower with a new one.

The inside of the old shower is shown in Figure 1.

(a) If the electrician touches the live wire he will receive an electric shock.

Explain why.

The live wire is at high voltage and the ground is at low voltage. If the electrician touches the wire, he will create a bridge between the different voltages, causing a current to pass through his body and resulting in a shock.
