We will have to use proportions:
[tex] \frac{42.9}{253.1} = \frac{6.2}{x} [/tex]
Cross multiplying we get
[tex]42.9x = 6.2 \times 253.1[/tex]
Now divide:
[tex]x = \frac{6.2 \times 253.1}{42.9} [/tex]
Solve to tenths place we get
[tex]x = 36.6[/tex]
The woman casts a 36.6 ft long shadow.
