its double a number then minus 1 so double of 17 is 34 then minus 1 is 33 
next 2 terms are 34 and 33

The rule for the pattern is:

-- Double the previous term.
-- Subtract 1 from the previous term.

-- Double the previous term.
-- Subtract 1 from the previous term.

-- Double the previous term.
-- Subtract 1 from the previous term.
.
.
.
etc.

So after 17, the next two terms are  34  and  33 .
